Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 Review

The Pros & Cons

The Pros. Solid set of computer speakers with very crisp and detailed sound performance. The speakers have good bass response and nice midrange clarity. They are great for watching movies, videos or just for gaming. The speaker units are also well designed and blend in nicely with modern home décor.

The Cons. The price of the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers can be a little steep. They also don’t produce a lot of low end bass impact as compared to other computer speakers in a similar category. While these speakers are THX certified, they do not produce true virtual surround sound as it is simply a 2.1 speaker system setup.

Sound Performance

Despite its flaws, the sound performance of the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 speakers is really as good as it gets especially if you are looking at just a compact 2.1 ystem. The sound quality is nothing short of excellent, with smooth and crystal clear treble and midrange. The bass response from the subwoofer is solid and tight, making them very good for listening to music or watching movies. The speaker system is THX certified and have very good stereo imaging; the satellite speakers are able to bring out the subtle details in the music without much difficulty. They also have a very smooth and wide frequency response that makes them very enjoyable to listen to; they can handle a wide variety of music genres from electronic dance music to jazz and instrumental and they all sound very well defined. The bass response on these speakers is superb and you can also adjust the bass settings to suit your listening tastes – they have no problem producing deep punchy sound effects in game and are great for electronic dance music. The volume on the Klipsch Pro Media speakers can also get deafeningly loud without any distortion with is pretty amazing considering the compact size of these speakers. In terms of sound performance and frequency response, these speakers are a clear winner.

Design

One of the strengths of the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers is that they blend in easily with modern home interior décor. The Klipsch speakers have a very sleek and modern looking design that looks aesthetically appealing when placed on a desktop. The design of these speakers is simple and minimalist without being too flashy – they have a certain weighty feel to them which shows that they are made of quality internal components. They are also good for bookshelves and the satellite speakers easily fit onto them without being too bulky. The subwoofer is quite large which means that you might have to place it on the floor from your computer; we would recommend placing the subwoofer near a corner for maximum bass response. The satellite speakers also come with nice stands which you can use to angle the speakers for the best sound. We also liked the black matt finish on these speakers which made them look very premium and high quality. The entire package comes with two satellite speakers, one subwoofer, two 9.5 feet length of speaker cable and a user manual for easy reference.

The Verdict?

The Klipsch Pro Media 2.1s are a really good set of computer speakers that can add a layer of THX sound to your video or gaming experience. The sound quality that you get with these speakers is simply top notch, with very detailed midrange, crisp highs and a good deal of bass. The wattage on the satellite and subwoofer speakers enables the speaker to perform very loud – so loud that you might even start to annoy your neighbors when the volume is cranked up. The sound from these speakers is rich, detailed and powerful, and does not distort at any volume level. Furthermore, the Klipsch speakers are THX certified and have very respectable separation and soundstage, which makes it feel as though you are listening to surround sound speakers. The frequency response on these speakers is very wide from 31 Hz to 20kHz and can handle almost any music genre that you throw at it. While these speakers do not come cheap, they do represent decent value for money and are really good speakers that are worth considering if you want to upgrade your existing computer speaker setup.
